{"id":238,"date":"2009-04-04T12:06:38","date_gmt":"2009-04-04T14:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bigital.com\/english\/?p=238"},"modified":"2009-06-10T16:32:35","modified_gmt":"2009-06-10T18:32:35","slug":"design-and-optimism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigital.com\/english\/2009\/04\/design-and-optimism\/","title":{"rendered":"Design and optimism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the introduction to the Design conference <a title=\"Direct link to Changing the Change\" href=\"http:\/\/www.changingthechange.org\/\">Changing the Change<\/a> (Torino 10th, 11th, 12th July 2008) the designer Ezio Manzini talked about <a title=\"Direct link to Manzini's blog\" href=\"http:\/\/sustainable-everyday.net\/manzini\/?p=19\">new design knowledge<\/a>, starting with an idea that seems to be clear in many designers: design has a close relation with optimism. Manzini says<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Being a designer means being an optimist: given the problems, all the problems even the most difficult, all we can do is to presume there is a possibility of solving them, not because we cannot see the difficulties (designers must also be realists), but because we have no alternative.
