Tomás García Ferrari

I am a professional designer working since 1995 in the development of digital projects.

As a professional

Between 1992 and 1995 I worked in Multimedios América, a media company located in Buenos Aires (Argentina). In 1996 I was hired by the Clarín Group to develop the first version of Clarín – the most popular newspaper in Argentina – for the World Wide Web. In August 1996 – together with Carolina Short – we found (bi)gital», a small design bureau focused on digital projects and infodesign.

As a teacher

I have taught Typography at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires as assistant of Prof. Rubén Fontana and Prof. Carlos Venancio. I have worked also as a Guest Professor of New Media Design at the Burg Giebichenstein, Faculty of Design, Halle an der Saale (Germany).

During the years 2006 and 2007 as was part of the Department of Design Studies in the University of Otago in New Zealand, while Thomas Bley was the Head of Department.

And…

During ten months between 1998 and 1999 we were living in the Akademie Schloss Solitude, in Stuttgart (Germany) with a scholarship, selected by Prof. Gui Bonsiepe.

I gave talks and workshops in several exhibitions, festivals, symposiums and conferences in different countries.

I have a Graphic Design degree from the University of Buenos Aires and a postgraduate degree on Theory of Communication Design in the FADU – UBA.
